Duluth Building and
Construction Trades Council

Project:
UMD Library

Designed by: Stanius Johnson Architects
Built by: Oscar J. Boldt Construction Co.

Built entirely with local union labor, the new library at the University of Minnesota-Duluth opened in 2001. The exterior of the building is red brick with a copper-topped rotunda. Light maple woodwork, black terrazzo floors, brass accents and curving lines comprise the library's relaxed and spacious interior.

Total cost was $25.8 million. The new Library and Annex provide
167,570 gross square feet of space.
