THE
BRIDGE WORKER
To the Editor of the Herald: The
picture of the aerial bridge workers was just to our liking.
They are certainly a good-looking bunch of huskies, with
strong bodies, strong hearts, level heads and willing hands.
It is this type of men that always makes the wheels of commerce
move. The Hand of providence has surely been with them in
this great undertaking without any mishaps. The contractors
and foreman and the men who climb day by day to dizzy heights,
these many cold winter days to do the work that has been
allotted to them, are to be congratulated on this fine piece
of engineering. But wait for the coming summer months when
many thousands of tourists will be visiting Duluth and Superior.
You will see many of them at the base of this aerial lift
bridge, watching the raising and lowering of the bridge
to let the many freighters and passenger boats come and
go through the ship canal. It will be a sight that they
will always remember.
